I don't know about you but my summer was so busy I'm only just now catching up with things, just in time for half term! Although David's Tent happened on the last weekend of August, it's now in October that I've got round to sharing about it with you. Better late than never as they say. I had a fantastic time in this, my 3rd year, and thought you'd like to hear about it. A guided tour This year I decided to take some video footage of the weekend to give those of you who have never been a bit of a tour around. It's by no means a thorough tour as I've missed some bits out completely, but it give's you a bit of an insight into the things and places that filled my time there, as one of the Art Team. BIG LIVE ART One thing that was new for me this time was that I got to do one of my Big Live Art pieces in the big top as part of my worship. I ran this idea past the organisers before the event who said "we love your idea, very creative and new" and I was encouraged to to give it a go as long as I took into consideration that they were expecting 5000 people over the weekend and the big top would get VERY full, so I needed to choose the right moment. I aimed for Friday afternoon, the first worship set, which worked perfectly. After having done this mostly in a secular setting thus far it was so lovely to be able to openly worship and involve a bit of dance. I called the piece 'Thirsty', I arrived feeling quite dry and warn out, so this was about my desire and need to reach out to God and enter into his presence. Here is the video Painting in the BIG TOP My absolute favourite part of DT is being free of the normal responsibilities of life and taking time to immerse myself in worshipping with colours on canvas. This year I had a whole army to work alongside! As you can see from the picture I work on a number of pieces at once building up the layers - here I have 5 on the go. I worked outside when using spray paints and splatting techniques, making use of the fresh air and sunshine (when I could get through the crowd). I was thrilled to end up with the closest artist's space to the stage, where I was really in the centre of the action (if a little too close to splatting the crowd with paint at times!) Because there was no rush there was lots of time to dance, and there's nowhere quite like DT for dancing! Here are the ones I made.
